That is a very valid point! We’ll improve that soon (already with an issue on github, high on the priorities list)
For now – the visualization indeed needs to be triggered by the eye icon. After that, if you click it or have the node selected you may press and hold spacebar to have it full screen for as long as you are holding it, or press cmd/ctrl + space to have it permanently full screen (until hitting ESC or spacebar again, that is).
With the new flow, you’ll be able to toggle the visualization by short-pressing space or long-press it to have it go straight to full screen even if it’s hidden (or, again, just use cmd/ctrl + space to have it fullscreen without holding the key).
As for the separate pane for visualizations – this is definitely an awesome way to display them and we plan to do it, but this is not yet planned out. If someone would like to make this happen faster, we’d be happy to guide you and accept a PR :).
